Abjad table
Abjad (also called ebced or hisab al-jummal) gives each of the 28 letters of the Arabic alphabet a number. For centuries names, dates and poems have been read with these values. Ebcedia applies the traditional method to Latin letters and puts the result into today’s words.
Calculation: S 60 + O 6 + PH 80 + I 10 + A 1 = Sophia 157

FAQ
Abjad is a traditional letter-number system that gives each of the 28 letters of the Arabic alphabet a value from 1 to 1000. It starts with alif 1, ba 2, jim 3 and ends with ghayn 1000. It has long been used for dating events in verse, in poetry and for reading names.
Find the value of each letter in the abjad table and add them up. For example, Sophia: S 60 + O 6 + PH 80 + I 10 + A 1 = 157. The dial at the top of this page does it for you instantly.
No. Ebcedia offers a symbolic reading based on the traditional abjad calculation. It doesn’t predict the future or claim to know your fate; think of it as a mirror to look at yourself from the outside.

In the traditional abjad reading a person’s name is read together with their mother’s name. In the app you enter both for the full reading; the quick calculation on this page only looks at your name.
The calculation on this page runs entirely in your browser; the name you type isn’t sent to any server. How the app handles data is explained in the Privacy Policy.
Not yet, it’s iPhone and iPad only. The app is available in English, Turkish, Arabic, German, French and Indonesian.
